Xiaomi 12T Pro – Review & Price in Nigeria

Xiaomi 12T Pro Price in Nigeria

Xiaomi 12T Pro Price in Nigeria; If Xiaomi is still a name that is unknown – and unpronounceable – to you, it’s time to alter that. After all, the Chinese behemoth is the world’s third-largest phone manufacturer, after only Samsung and Apple.

It is pronounced “Shaumee” and produces not just flagship phones to compete with the finest in the market, but also good-value low-cost phones.

The 12T Pro is a little more difficult to categorise. A short glance at its specs could lead you to believe it’s a flagship.

But look at its pricing and you’ll marvel at how a phone with those specifications can be made for such a cheap price.

There are methods and means to achieve so, and if you can live with the tradeoffs made by Xiaomi, this may be a phone to consider.

I’m guessing you’re here because you heard that 200Mp camera spec someplace and wanted to know whether the cheaply priced 12T Pro is good.

Xiaomi 12T Pro Review

  • Stereo speakers
  • A drab design
  • Back glass with a plastic frame

The 12T Pro’s rather bland design, which it shares with its sibling, the 12T, is one thing that doesn’t appeal. Xiaomi provided me with the black version to evaluate, which is the least interesting of the bunch.

The blue and silver models are more appealing, but the fully flat screen and, dare I say, generic overall design make it difficult to distinguish.

The 12T Pro, like many of its competitors, is a large phone, measuring 163 x 76 x 8.6mm and weighing little over 200g.

It includes dual speakers on opposing sides and is one of the few phones that still has an IR blaster for controlling your TV and set-top boxes with the Mi remote app.

Those speakers also sound fantastic for a phone. Harmon Kardon tweaked them and they support Dolby Atmos.

While it may not seem like much for such small, constrained speakers, both produce comparable loudness and are ideal for films and gaming.

An under-screen optical fingerprint reader and a 20Mp punch-hole selfie camera with facial recognition are among the biometric features.

That’s less secure than utilising a fingerprint scanner, which I found to be fast and dependable.

  • 6.67in CrystalRes AMOLED display
  • 446ppi, 120Hz (480Hz touch sampling)
  • HDR 10+, Dolby Vision

The Xiaomi 12T Pro has a good screen, as you’d expect. Although the display is flat, the 120Hz refresh rate and AMOLED technology ensure that games, movies, applications, and websites appear nice and scroll smoothly. The colours are vibrant, the blacks are deep, and the viewing angles are outstanding.

Brightness is a tradeoff here, with 500 nits in typical settings (as measured by a DataColor Spyder) and up to 900 nits at peak (which I couldn’t test). It’s totally enough, but not the brightest on the market.

It’s also not a panel with a changeable refresh rate. It may operate at 30, 60, 90, or 120 hertz. To save battery power, the latest LTPO 2.0 panels may reduce the refresh rate to as low as 1Hz.

However, this isn’t a deal-breaker and is a reasonable compromise to keep the price low.

The resolution of 12202712 isn’t the greatest either, but it’s definitely good enough for a clean, crisp picture.

  • Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
  • Dual 5G

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor powers the Xiaomi 12T Pro. It has 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

All are true flagship components, and in certain countries (although not the UK), you may choose a variant with 12GB of RAM.

Xiaomi claims that the cooling mechanism has been upgraded with a vapour chamber that is 65% bigger than the 11T Pros.

Unfortunately, while using heavy games and other programmes, the 12T Pro continues to heat up substantially.

It passed our benchmarks with flying colours, although it’s definitely better to think of this as a high-performance device for more leisure usage than a gaming phone.

In typical usages, such as surfing the web, writing emails, taking and viewing photographs, streaming Netflix, and playing ‘casual’ games, the Xiaomi 12T Pro feels like a flagship.

There is no way to extend storage with a microSD card, however, the SIM tray accepts two nano SIMs, one of which can be 5G.

You can also achieve dual 5G by pairing a physical SIM with an eSIM.

  • 200Mp main camera with OIS
  • Wide-angle with f/2.2
  • Macro with f/2.4 lens

How good is that 200-megapixel camera? That is the most important question. In sum, it’s not much better than cameras with considerably fewer pixels.

It is, nevertheless, extremely nice. Expect nothing short of a miracle. Even the Xiaomi 12T’s 108Mp camera has too many pixels. A bigger number sounds fantastic, but in reality, you don’t need it.

The 12T Pro’s default shooting mode “bins” the majority of those pixels (merging every block of 16 into 1) and stores a 12.5Mp shot to your camera roll.

This is done for a multitude of reasons, the most important of which is storage space. If you wish, you can shoot at the maximum 200Mp resolution, however, each picture will take up roughly 50-70MB.

Battery & Charging

  • 5000mAh battery
  • 120W wired charging
  • No wireless charging

Though neither unique nor novel, the 120W wired charging is likely to come as a surprise to most people purchasing a 12T Pro.

Xiaomi includes the required charger in the packaging, which is a huge plus. It restores about 70% of the battery’s capacity in only 15 minutes and completely charges it in less than 25 minutes.

This is fantastic news since it helps to explain why, despite a 5000mAh battery, the 12T Pro doesn’t last as long as you would expect.

Don’t get me wrong: it’s not terrible. During the week or so I’ve had the phone, it’s managed to go through a whole day with some power left over, even if it was just 20% or so. Anyron, one of my colleagues, had a similar experience with the 12T.

It’s enough for roughly six or seven hours of screen usage, with the remainder draining when the screen is turned off.

Using PCMark’s battery test, the 12T Pro lasted 10 hours 54 minutes longer than the 12T, which has the same battery and screen but a Dimensity 8100 Ultra processor.

As always, your mileage may vary: you may be able to get nearly two days out of the 12T Pro if you use it lightly, but it will almost surely need that super-fast charger if you spend four or more hours playing games.
