Gas controller

A Gas Controller is a person that works in gas plants, oil refineries and pipelines to prevent major and unforeseen problems.

 A Gas Controller  operates pipelines to ensure that customers receive proper gas or oil flow requirement.

 They monitor the equipment and make sure safety guidelines are strictly observed.

They adjust the temperature, pressure, flow rate, in gas in order to maintain productivity.

That is not all they do. A gas controller starts and shuts down plant equipment. Monitor transport and storage of product.

They record and review records of the overall operation and test equipment to ensure safety.

A gas operator role requires a lot of physical strength. A gas controller is expected to be proacy in case of emergencies. He must be ready to travel from one place to another.

Power Plant Engineer

A power plant is a building where power i e electric power is generated. It also refer to the equipment suppling power to a particular mechanical process or operation.

A power plant operator is a technical professional who manages the operation of a power plant facility. An operator generates and distributes electrical supply. Monitors plants and dams

They control, operate and maintain the system that keeps a plant running and ensures facilities are operational and safe.

They turn on and off the system and generator, load fuel, monitor, guage and adjust power output.

They perform regular safety checks and train new staff.

A power plant operator must be physically fit, patient, focused and have good interpersonal and communication skills.

Pipeline Controller

What does a pipeline operator do?

He/she monitors and controls the operation of pipelines and systems. Ensures pipeline system operates safely, efficiently and reliably. They work in power plants, gas facility or oil refineries to control the flow of oil, natural gas and other materials.

A pipeline operator also helps to maximize power usage usage, communicate with customers and provide training when necessary.

He is not only responsible for the functioning of the pipelines, he is also responsible for monitoring the status of shipments in real time, to ensure they are delivered on time.

Substation Operator

Substations are smaller version of power plants that convert energy from high voltage distribution lines.

Substation operators are responsible for operating and maintaining the equipment that keep the power grid running smoothly. They monitor and control electrical current, voltage and other aspects of the power supply at substations.  

They also perform routine maintenance of their equipment or coordinate with outside contractors to repair parts when needed.

Substation Engineers  

A substation Engineer is one that plans for power substations and collaborate with project team and other stakeholders to finalize schematics. 

A substation Engineer is different from a substation operator in the sense that an engineer performs more technical work of designing and creating schematics making use of engineering softwares; while an operator performs less technical fonctions such as restoring and opening if feeder, closing and opening of line breakers switching operation in control room and so on.

A substation Engineer is responsible for substation design including schematics development, physical layout, equipment and construction cost estimate. In the same vain, he performs protection and control design of various substation projects.

He determines the appropriate size of cables and conduits for each station. They also perform basic calculations such as voltage drop, CT burden and saturation, lightening and short circuit.

Radiation Engineer

The next on the list is radiation Engineer. A radiation Engineer is an engineer that conducts experiment that test and evaluate radiation effects in different settings. They provide theoretical analysis bases in a test they perform in an experimental environment. They focus on the performance of systems, equipment or network during and after exposure to radiation.

Power System Dispatcher

Power System Dispatchers are also known as system operators work in office setting often in a power plant. They monitor equipment using computer, cordina They are responsible for the control of the flow of electricity as it travels from generating stations to substations. They are responsible for ensuring that clients receive the correct amount of electricity at all times without disruption. They also control and monitor a range of power distribution equipment. They monitor and operate current converters, voltage transformers and current breakers. They prepare and issue switching orders.

Not all that, they also collect data and record important operating information that helps in the control of the flow of electricity distribution.

Power Distribution Engineer

The Power Distribution Engineer is primarily responsible for the cost effective conceptual and engineering solutions to upgrade, expand maintain and automate overhead and underground power distribution system for utility, client using various software systems.  They are also responsible for preparing cost effective system expansion plans using good engineering practices. Part of their duties include, designing and maintenance of electrical distribution systems, designing cable routes and develop physical layout including height, spacing and location of parameters.

They also manage voltage drop, short circuit, power factory. They design and maintain electrical distribution systems. Power Distribution Engineers also help to ensure compliance with clients procedures, design standards, state and federal regulatory regulations and safety code requirements.

They analyse system failures and suggest appreciate solution.

Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer

Nuclear Criticality Safety is the prevention of unwanted nuclear chain reactions in fissile materials through technical and administrative control measures.

A Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineer is an engineer that conducts research and evaluate existing methods of handling nuclear fuel, in an effort to stop accidental nuclear reactions before they start. They seek to improve the existing methods of operation in order to keep the plan safe at all times while running at full capacity.

They also examine the way nuclear materials are transported, handled and stored. They continually find better ways of doing this job. They know the type of materials used in the plant and know how to work with them.

Nuclear Licensing Engineer

The job of a nuclear licensing engineer is to provide engineering and technical assistance to ensure that nuclear power system or facilities meet federal safety and licensing requirements. They work with design Engineers to develop system and also document system change.

They also ensure that equipment are working as expected. They prepare safety licensing documents, safety analysis report, and completing regulatory analyses. Ensuring all technical requirements are met.

Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)

The radiation Safety Officer is responsible for advising the manager on matters relating to the implementation of the radiation management plan for the mine. He identify ways to minimize radiation dose people receive from radiation source. 

They also perform leak test on all sealed source and maintain records accordingly. The RSO monitors all activity involving radioactive material, including routine monitoring and special surveys for all areas in which radioactive materials is used.

RSO help determine compliance with rules and regulations, license conditions and the conditions of project approval specified by the radiation safety commission. They also investigate any defect or malfunction discovered in plant, equipment or procedure that cause exposure to radiation in excess of dose.
